All the criminals in the world escape on the same day. As if I'd believe that!

That would mean political prisoners escape too. And a lot of people would get a second chance. Might not be all bad...

I was just thinking that the other day. Half of the prisoners in the world are held by the US, Russia, and China. And I don't know how it works in Russia and China, but in the US a criminal record tends to make even those who have served their time and reformed into second-class citizens.
How thoroughly are records deleted? After this mass-resetting I suspect we'd at least want to see the serial killers recaptured and re-charged before they get back to work.

All records of past crimes are gone. New crimes could be dealt with and you could try to catch old criminals. However, depending on the new system thats set up, I suspect you'd have to reprove their guilt. Otherwise things could get very scary.
Actually, that sounds like an interesting dystopian future.

Here is an interesting point. Umbreon27 says that it would be good because political prisoners would also escape. ... Except the option doesn't say "all prisoners escape". It says "all criminals escape." Are political prisoners or people falsely accused "criminals". I would say no, so does that mean they don't escape. If not, that is even suckier.
That said, I think it makes sense that this ACTUALLY means all prisoners escape, because someone CONSIDERS them a criminal. And also, if they don't, its just weird. You could be like - we'll I guess everyone who didn't escape is innocent, so... I guess you're free to go too. :P
